PXC-38 FEATURES FORMER UFC FIGHTER, ANTHONY “THE CRUSH” TORRES AGAINST JOSH "KILLA" CALVO!
Pacific X-treme Combat 38 features Anthony Torres vs. Josh Calvo on August 9th in Guam!
30 JULY 2013, GUAM, USA
SummaryPacific X-treme Combat (PXC), the Asia-Pacific's top MMA organization, returns to Guam for another huge MMA showcase of talent from the US Territory, featuring fighters from California, Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines in a night of professional MMA competition. PXC is well-known as a launching pad to The UFC, the world's top MMA league, and the August 9th Fight Card is stacked with UFC prospects hungry to make a name for themselves in the sport.
PXC is back with their 38th installment of the Asia-Pacific's top Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event to be held on August 9th in Guam, USA. PXC has dominated the regional MMA scene with stellar events produced over the last 9 years, and made big news in 2011 with international expansion to the Philippines and a broadcast deal that made PXC one of the top MMA promotions in the world.
The first bout of the evening will be a battle of the islands, when former UFC fighter, Anthony “The Crush” Torres takes on Josh “Killa” Calvo at 170 pounds. Both fighters are island bred with the fighting spirit, though they both now live and train in America.
Fighting out of Hawaii and MMA Development gym, Anthony Torres stands 5 feet 8 inches. He once was a Saipan resident, where “The Crush” attended High School in Saipan. As the first Chamorro to ever fight in The UFC, Torres makes this fight all about island pride as he makes his comeback to the MMA scene in the Marianas.
His opponent, Josh "Killa" Calvo, stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall. Calvo is also making a return to the PXC cage in his second fight on Guam soil. Said to be a natural talent who has proudly represented Guam in all his fights, Josh Calvo is a Guam son with strong southern roots. His last fight in PXC 36 proved that whether its fighting in the northwestern circuit or rolling on the home turf, he is a promising up and coming mixed martial artist.
But this battle is anyone’s game…will it be former UFC fighter and Ultimate Fighter 2 contender, Anthony Torres, who has 5 wins, which include a UFC win against Pat Healy under his belt? Will it be Guam’s up and coming Josh Calvo, who has 7 wins in the Rumble on the Ridge circuit and PXC 36. It is going to be an epic event you don’t want to miss!
PXC-38 will once again be hosted at The University of Guam Field House in front of thousands of screaming fans, with Doors Opening by 5:30pm on Friday afternoon.
Tickets are on sale for $30 General Admission at 76 Circle K locations throughout Guam or $50 VIP at Cars Plus in Maite. Both are available online via www.tpiguam.com.
PXC-38 is presented by Miller Lite, Docomo Pacific, and the stations of KUAM. Sponsored by Air Guard, Jeep, Monster Energy, Pacific Islands Club, 76/Circle K, Budget Car and Truck Rental, Pacific Trucking and Gladiator Crew. This is a Tropical Production!
