PXC is proud to announce the continued growth of its Female Division with a multi-fight, exclusive deal with Pinay Boxing Champion, Gretchen Abaniel, and plans to showcase her MMA debut this August in Manila.
A native of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines, the pro boxer brings her record of 12-4 along with 2 world titles. The 27 year-old Abaniel, is currently ranked as the top female boxer from the Philippines in her weight-class, and notably #14 in the world.
As she trains to make her MMA debut in PXC this August in Manila, Abaniel is adjusting her training camp to include takedown defense and ground-work at the Team Insider gym in Manila, as well as a steady diet of Muay Thai fighting techniques and grappling. Abaniel is excited about fighting in the PXC cage against some of the best female fighters in the Philippines as well as internationally...and fighting on a big stage is nothing new for the Pinay.
Her next boxing match is slated for November on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's fight in Macau. She feels the variety of training in MMA will only help her boxing skills and conditioning, and she plans on returning to boxing training full-time after the late-August PXC competition.
"We are excited to welcome Gretchen to PXC competition and we feel she will be an instant fan favorite. As we build our female division, we are extremely selective with signing fighters, and promise that female bouts will be explosive and exciting to watch!", said E.J. Calvo, PXC CEO & Promoter.
The Filipina Champion also said, "I'm very excited to be a part of PXC and look forward to representing the Philippines soon. I'm thankful that PXC has seen what I can offer to Filipino sports fans and am truly honored to be the first-ever PXC Filipina MMA figther to fight in Philippine soil. Sa mga kababayan ko, salamat sa suporta at aabangan ko kayo sa aking laban sa PXC! (To my fellow Filipinos, thanks for the support and I'll see you in my future fights in PXC!)"
